Let's get started

OKAY, we'll start with a quiz. What was the best part of the 90s? If you said Limp Bizkit, you’re wrong. Even though the best part of that decade was clearly all the incredible music and movies! It brought us huge comedy/adventure spectacles like Men In Black and Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure - featuring time travel, cool cars and loveable heroes and awesome music! And that’s what Death Travelers is all about.

Let’s stay with our heroes, Smith and Nio, who are zeroes when we first meet them. It’s 1995, and at the ripe old age of 23, these best friends are already washed-up musicians who are deep in debt and stumbling through dead-end jobs. Their only hope is to find a lost demo tape, they think will unlock their dormant music careers and generally unfuck their lives!

Meet the characters

  • Smith, 23

An amazing musician and a lovable rogue (think Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy) who was acting less-than-lovable a few years ago when his college sweetheart, Erika, split up with him. It was a brutal blow, but he learned a valuable lesson from it all - that he doesn’t know what hell happened. Smith is delirious from the whole experience and has now convinced himself that he’s blown his one chance at love. He’s got this idea in his head that you only get so many shots in life – like there’s a scoreboard in the sky. Anyway, Smith is gonna have to hit rock bottom to find out how delusional he truly is, but when he breaks through the other side, there’s hope for this lovable loser. How do we know that? Cuz’ the Grand Chancellor told us.

  • Nio, 23

An incredible drummer, inventor and kindhearted prankster (if Rocket Raccoon from Guardians had a baby with Jeff from Curb Your Enthusiasm). Being a drummer, his pattern recognition skills are without rival, and he'll discover that this makes him a damn Jedi at solving puzzles and riddles, which will come in handy in the After Space.

When we first meet Nio, he’s a follower, letting Smith take all the risks. But over the course of season 1, he'll learn that to be a good follower, you need to understand what it takes to lead.

  • Erika, 23

The real hero of this story, and Smith’s ex-girlfriend (think a sweet and spicy version of Gamora from Guardians). Erika was a prodigy dancer in her teens, and she’s evolved her athleticism and musical abilities to become something Smith could never have believed possible. It’ll become clear that she was evolving while Smith was starting to settle into stasis, leading to an inevitable breakup. She’s also an expert at strategy and tactics. More on that later....

  • SD

SD looks like a 70’s era muscle car. He’s also a Gate Maker which are inter-dimensional beings that act as transportation and guides for Death Travelers, who “police” traffic between the world of the living and the After Space. SD and the other Gate Makers take orders from Terminus, an organization rife with corruption. And now that they know the big secret to the whole show, act surprised when you watch the SEASON 1 FINALE!

  • Helper, eternal

Helper is the scribe of the universe, the keeper of the big book, the one that keeps track of what’s going on and where everyone is. He is right hand of the ruler of all that was and that will be, but Terminus doesn’t know that. Terminus thinks they have a hold on him but that’s one of his gifts he knows when to get info and when to give it. Think the lawyer of the souls because we all need a good lawyer, right?

  • Ethereal, eternal

Ethereal is a red-headed almost golden effervescent being, part angel pixie and part warrior. It’s Tinkerbell with a twist of a badass defender when it’s required and a guardian angel when you need her. And trust me you’ll need her and hope she’s on your side. She has an all-white dog (Goldendoodle in appearance) that’s her sidekick. Bella also transforms into a badass dog (think ripped goldendoodle turned into a German Shepperd) that takes on the Hound of Hell later in the series. She loves everyone, until she doesn’t then watch out.
